How to VJ with iTunes 4.8

As I've said in an earlier post, iTunes now supports video. Oh yes I must say it one more time. COOL! But the question I had was how do I make a playlist to automatically watch all my videos fullscreen? Here is how.

  • First make sure you have downloaded and installed iTunes 4.8.
  • Then drag and drop some quicktime videos into iTunes. (Note that at the moment iTunes doesn't support mpeg muxed videos, like mpeg-1 on VCD's).
  • You will see next to these videos a camera icon showing that it is a video.
  • Goto your iTunes->Preferences->Advanced and select videos to play fullscreen.
  • Now make sure your artwork thumbnail pane (at the bottom left corner) is opened up.

  • Then make sure that the pane is showing the artwork "Now Playing" instead of "Selected Song" by clicking on the title bar at the top of the pane to switch this.
Now you can make a Smart Playlist to see all your videos, or a regular playlist with videos of your choice. For those of you who have read my previous posting, you can get a program to download those music videos from the iTunes Music store, and then play them in iTunes. VJ away!
